Server processing — files deleted after repair

Upload a damaged file to repair

Images (JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, TIFF, BMP, AVIF), PDF, ZIP, and text or JSON. Max 150 MB. Encrypted or ZKE files must be decrypted first.

Recover Unreadable Files

Re-encode damaged images, rebuild PDF structure, salvage ZIP entries, and sanitize broken text or JSON streams.

Repair Report Included

Each job returns a repair summary so you know what was recovered before you download the fixed file.

Auto Cleanup

Uploads are processed temporarily and deleted immediately after your repaired download is ready.

How File Repair Works

Upload a corrupted or unreadable file and FileShot runs format-specific recovery on our servers. Images are re-encoded with loss-tolerant decoders, PDFs are rebuilt page-by-page, ZIP archives salvage readable entries into a new archive, and text or JSON files are sanitized and validated.

When repair completes, you receive the fixed file as a direct download along with a repair report describing what was recovered. Files are never stored long-term — they are removed as soon as the job finishes.

Supported Formats

  • Images — JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, TIFF, BMP, AVIF, and similar raster formats (up to 150 MB).
  • PDF — Damaged or partially readable PDF documents with broken cross-reference tables.
  • ZIP — Archives with corrupted entries; readable files are extracted and repacked.
  • Text and JSON — TXT, JSON, CSV, LOG, XML, HTML, and Markdown with null bytes or control characters removed.

Not supported on the server: zero-knowledge encrypted (.encrypted) files. Decrypt locally with your password or URL fragment key first, then repair the original file.

Frequently asked questions

What file types can be repaired?

Images, PDF, ZIP, and text or JSON files up to 150 MB. Other formats may fail with an unsupported-type message.

Can you repair encrypted or ZKE files?

No. Zero-knowledge encrypted files cannot be repaired on our servers because we never hold the decryption key. Decrypt the file locally first, then upload the original for repair.

Are my files stored after repair?

No. Uploads are deleted immediately after the repaired file is delivered.

Does repair use my daily tool quota?

Yes. Each repair counts as one tool action. Sign in for higher Pro limits.
