About File Split & Merge
Large binaries — disk images, video masters, database dumps — often exceed single-upload limits. Splitting produces numbered parts you can transfer separately, then merge on the other side.
Files are uploaded temporarily for processing only. FileShot does not retain split or merged content after the job finishes. For sensitive data, encrypt parts with our File Encryptor first.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files stored on FileShot?
No long-term storage. Uploads are processed and deleted after the ZIP or merged download is sent.
What chunk size should I use?
Match your email or upload limit — 25MB or 50MB parts are common. Smaller parts mean more files to manage.
Does split/merge count toward quota?
Yes. Each split or merge operation uses one daily tool quota action.
