Facebook Video Downloader: HD, 4K and Reels

Why Facebook downloads lose sound, and how to get one file.

Facebook has no download button for other people’s videos, so people turn to downloader sites. The most common complaint afterward is not quality, it is sound: the HD file arrives silent. This page explains why that happens, how SnapSave and FileShot handle it, and how to find and download the right link for videos, Reels and posts in public groups.

Why Facebook HD downloads lose sound

Facebook delivers HD video and audio as separate streams. Your browser plays both together, so you never notice. A downloader that grabs only the video stream hands you a silent file. The low-quality version is often a single file with sound, which is why some downloads come out with sound in SD and silent in HD. Good tools fetch both HD streams and merge them.

SnapSave

A Facebook-focused downloader that renders the separate audio and video into one file after you ask, which its page says takes some time.

FileShot

Downloads public Facebook videos and Reels with the audio merged into one MP4, up to 4K, and takes links from 1,000+ other sites in the same box. The quality menu says “Video + Audio” so you know the file has sound. If one method cannot read a Facebook link, FileShot tries the next of its five engines.

How to copy the right Facebook link

  • Video in your feed or on a Page: tap Share under the video, then Copy link.
  • Reel: tap the share arrow on the Reel, then Copy link.
  • Video in a public group: open the post, tap Share, then Copy link. Videos in private groups cannot be downloaded by any tool.
  • On a computer: open the video on its own page and copy the address from the browser bar.

Copy the link to the video itself, not to the profile or Page that posted it. A profile link points to many videos, so a downloader cannot tell which one you want.

Steps

  1. Copy the video or Reel link as above.
  2. Paste it into FileShot’s downloader.
  3. Pick a quality marked “Video + Audio,” up to 4K, and press Download.
  4. On iPhone, open the file from Downloads in the Files app and tap Share, then Save Video to add it to Photos.

Why right-click Save does not work on Facebook

Facebook’s player builds the video in your browser from many small pieces, so the address behind it starts with blob: and cannot be saved directly. How to download a blob video explains what that means. A downloader reads the video post instead and fetches the real streams.

Why HD is not always offered

Facebook can only serve the quality the uploader provided. A video recorded or uploaded at low resolution has no HD version to download, on any tool. When the uploader provided HD or 4K, FileShot lists it, and the “Video + Audio” label confirms the sound is included.

When a Facebook video will not download

  • You copied a profile or Page link instead of the video link. Open the video on its own and copy that.
  • The video is in a private group or shared only with friends. No tool can reach it.
  • The video was removed by the uploader or by Facebook.

Avoid fake Facebook downloaders

Some sites ask you to log in with Facebook to “unlock” HD or private videos. Do not. A downloader needs only the public link. How to spot a safe video downloader lists the warning signs.

Private videos

No tool downloads private Facebook videos or videos in private groups. FileShot downloads public content. Download only videos you have the right to save.

After the download

Facebook videos are often long and large, which makes them awkward to send by email or chat. FileShot can turn the downloaded file into an encrypted share link with optional expiry, so you can pass it to someone without uploading it to another service. The same box also takes Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X links, so you do not need a separate Facebook-only tool.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Facebook HD download silent?

Facebook stores HD video and audio separately. The tool saved only the video. FileShot merges both into one MP4.

Can I download Facebook Reels?

Yes. Copy the Reel link and paste it into FileShot.

Do I need a Facebook account?

No. FileShot downloads public videos from the link alone.

Can I download a Facebook video on my phone?

Yes. Copy the link in the Facebook app, paste it into FileShot in your phone’s browser, and download. No app is needed.

Can I save only the sound from a Facebook video?

Yes. Paste the link into FileShot and choose the audio option instead of MP4 to get the sound track as its own file.
